Identity vs. Behaviour

Did you know there is a difference between your identity and your behaviour? Have you ever said "You're a prick!". Well how about if you said, "You were behaving like a prick just then!". That's the difference between attacking somebody's identity and attacking their behaviour.

How about if you said, "I'm forgetful". Now try saying "Sometimes i forget things". Again, you've changed a statement about your own identity, into a statement about your behaviour.

This is useful because our subconscious mind knows that behaviour is temporary and ever changing, but your subconscious mind thinks that's your identity is more permanent.

So, here's what you need to do , attribute positive things to identity, and negative things to behaviour.

Here's some more examples.

"I hate you!" (Identity)
"I hate what you just did" (Behaviour)

"I'm lazy" (Identity)
"I quite often don't bother to do thing's i know i should" (Behaviour)

"I'm awesome!" (Identity)
"That thing i just did was awesome!" (Behaviour)

From now on, attribute negative things to behaviour, and positive things to identity.
